Marcus Durayalle Lofton, a Michigan man, is being held without bail after it was claimed that the day after his wife, Alicia Danielle Lofton, issued him with divorce papers, he shot and killed her.
The wedding took place in February 2023. On August 16, Alicia served him with divorce papers.

Alicia has had a protective order against her husband in effect since May, according to court records. Marcus was detained at the time for assaulting Alicia at home.
The Grand Rapids police responded to a complaint of gunfire at the intersection of Union Avenue and Adams Street on August 17, 2023.
When they arrived, the cops saw Alicia lying dead next to a house.
According to an affidavit, the police said that Alicia suffered many gunshot wounds to her head and torso.
According to investigators, Marcus Durayalle Lofton, Alicia’s husband, was swiftly identified as the culprit.
He was arraigned on first-degree murder and possession of a firearm while committing a felony charges on Friday, August 18. He continues to be held without bond.
When detectives questioned Lofton, he revealed that on August 16 Alicia presented him with divorce papers and informed him that she was selling the home. On August 17, however, he got in touch with her at the Union Avenue house at 8 a.m.
Marcus Lofton allegedly informed police that the two had a fight. Then he reached into a drawer and pulled out Alicia Lofton’s Glock, attempting to attack her with it.
He claimed to police that the gun went off, according to the affidavit. Then his wife went into a bedroom and shut the door.
Marcus Lofton later admitted to detectives that he broke down the door to discover his wife attempting to scale a window.
Marcus claimed that he repeatedly shot Alicia before escaping in his maroon SUV, according to the police affidavit.
On September 5th, Marcus will make another court appearance in Michigan for a preliminary hearing.
