Regina King has been a working actress for most of her career. In the last few years she has reached a level of fame that comes with more exposure and the ability to increase her income via endorsement deals and other types of appearances and she's cashing in and I say good for her. Regina is 50 and there aren't many shopping days left for 50 year old women in Hollywood. I doubt that she's poor, but she's setting herself up with a nice nest egg and the ability to have a great retirement.

I think Regina's passion seems to be moving away from acting to directing. Actors especially working journeymen type of actors who take on character roles really don't make that much money. Only big Hollywood stars like Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie make an exorbitant amount of money because they have power to negotiate. If you are lucky, you can land on a TV show like Friends, Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men and get a steady paycheck and negotiate a higher pay if the show is hugely successful. But overall CEOs, specialized doctors, lawyers, politicians and megachurch pastors bring in more money than a regular actor.
